Golden Frontier (GF) is a Myanmar based company, which is a leading regional exporter of seafood products. GF has expanded their market to Korea, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong. The aim of this project is to determine the viability of the company’s expansion via procuring another seafood processing plant in Probolinggo, Indonesia. Indonesia is the world’s second largest in producing fishery products. In this project, we evaluated and decided to choose PT.Sukses Lautan Indonesia as the industry to have a joint venture with. The company is located in East Java, which production accounts for roughly a third of national shipments (International Business Publications, 2015).

Before we decided the suitable location, we have conducted surveys to determine the seafood preferences in Myanmar with approximately 60 respondents in James Cook University Singapore. We analyzed the different aspects of the politics and legal systems, economy, technology, and local environment in both countries, Indonesia and Myanmar.

We have also looked at the external analysis of SWOT such as opportunities and threats. In addition we investigated the company, and determined the beneficial aspects for Golden Frontier.  Those benefits are the implementation of HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), which assure the hygiene, and freshness of the seafood. Besides that, the Indonesia’s company provides cooling technologies such as ice block machine, instant quick freezer, and cold storage machine to ensure that they can supply good guaranteed seafood’s quality. By analyzing those aspects we have come out with recommendations, which show whether to invest in Indonesia’s processing plant.
